A violator is a visual element that intentionally violates a design, such as color burst or bar on a package or magazine cover intended to attract special attention.

If you‘re a designer, you HATE adding violators to your clean, beautiful package design but unfortunately it’s a MUST and clients love them. Here are the top violators that I found one day while wondering around Whole Foods Market and Stop and Shop.

What makes them the top violators in my book? They have personality. They are more then just a yellow rectangle with red type.
